Useful home learning resources:

The reading button above takes you to a recommended booklist for year 2. Please do not feel you need to read them all or even buy any. If you type the book titles into Youtube (make sure you check with an adult), a lot of the time you can find an online version for free. I have spent the summer trying to get as many of these books as possible and some we already have in school in our classroom library. We will spend time over the year reading some of these for pleasure or we may even use them in our learning. If I could give you any advice for year 2 it would be read, read an read some more. It is so important and useful across all of the subjects, even maths!

SATs- SATs are inevitably a big part of year 2 and the DfE have confirmed that they will be going ahead this year. We will be doing a lot of work towards this and lots of past paper practice. Your child will be equipped as best as possible to deal with SATs. Once the children have settled, I will be sending out more information regarding SATs, in the latter part of the Autumn term. Hopefully, I will be able to organise an information evening for parents, provided new guidelines allow. You will however, be informed as much as possible.

If you would like to contact me about anything you have read here or any questions you may have, you can go to the year 2 page and click submit work from the drop-down menu. This will trigger an email to myself and I will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also send me any work your child might have completed or any praise you want to share with me.

Our first topic question when we return is 'What is the UK's Place In The World?' You might want to complete a piece of work linked to this or do some extra research on the UK and its physical location.

Enjoy the rest of your summer holidays and please, DO NOT WORRY. Mr Hussain and myself are very friendly and we will do our very best to make you feel welcome, calm and happy.

It is going to be a great year!
